We went to Gili Air for a few days with the intention of doing some snorkelling and seeing the Gili Meno Statues and the turtles. And it all exceeded our expectations.
When we made it to Gili Air harbour, we immediately witnessed how small and underdeveloped the island is. There are no cars or motorbikes so we got a small horse-drawn carriage and made it to our hotel.
PinkCoco is definitely the best place to stay on the island. This small resort is located right on the beach and boasts a beautiful swimming pool where we stayed most of the time. The service in the hotel was excellent and the food irresistibly delicious. We found it such a comfortable, relaxing and friendly place to stay that we didn’t even bother to see anything else on this small island. The owner told us that the concept for PinkCoco is to be a 3-star hotel size wise, to be a 4-star hotel price wise and to be a 5-star hotel service wise. And it really is like that! We will be back.
Nevertheless, the greatest highlight of staying at Gilis was our snorkelling boat trip. We were lucky to get a great boatman who took us to amazing spots with almost no people. I was so so so happy to see the coral reef and the underwater statues and to swim with the turtles. All I saw was picture perfect and unforgettable. One of the best experiences of my entire life.
